Mental health education in agricultural universities

    Abstract

A package of work looking at improving the provision of mental health education in agricultural universities. Building on the work of a HRP (Tom York) and participating in a wider project led by Lincoln and Massey Universities in New Zealand.

    Description

Two active projects are underway within this theme. The first is a HRP study by Tom York, which will be presented at ESEE 2025, mapping the provision of mental health education in UK agricultural universities and colleges, supported by Landex. A survey is being undertaken to map student needs, map provision, and gain the views of students, course leaders, and student support staff.

This work is complemented by a piece of work being led by Lincoln and Massey Universities in New Zealand, with the support of Cornell (USA) and UCD (Ireland). We are mapping provision of mental health education at select agricultural universities in NZ, USA, Ireland, and the UK, with the aim of strengthening provision.
