To explore the role of LLMs in agricultural extension.
This project is split into two parts. Here, we describe the work package on the role of Large Language Models (generative AI) in agricultural extension. We are working with Optifarm who have developed technology to monitor the drinking behaviour of poultry, helping to spot problems. LLMs aim to communicate an action for farm staff to correct the problem. Our project explores the use of these LLMs, how they influence farm practice, user needs and demands, and ethical issues. AWRN (BBSRC) have funded the main project. The Douglas Bomford Trust have supported conference attendance at ESEE 2025, where a project paper will be presented.
