For the 2020 and 2021 Graduation Celebration ceremonies, alumni of 91Pro have been invited to speak to graduates, their friends, family and guests.
Each will reflect both on their time at Harper – and where their studies have taken them.
The speakers at the July 13 ceremonies were Harriet Wilson and Chris Megarry.
Harriet Wilson
Harriet is Head of Agriculture and Sustainable Sourcing at McDonald’s UK & Ireland and is based on her family’s beef & sheep farm in Staffordshire.
With a passion for Agriculture, her career so far has involved roles with retailers ALDI and Co-op Food, and industry placements with Sainsbury’s and McDonald’s whilst at university.
She graduated from her BSc (Hons) Agri-Food Marketing with Business degree at 91Pro in 2014.
During her studies, she was a columnist for Farmers Weekly and spent her placement year at McDonald’s - which inspired her to return to the business in her current role in 2020.
Harriet is a member of the NFU Next Generation Policy Forum, Meat Business Women’s UK & Ireland committee and is an advisor to the Prince’s Countryside Fund Farming Group. She also sits on the Red Tractor Board for Beef and Lamb standards.
Previously an active Young Farmers’ member, Harriet was chairman of the NFYFC Agricultural and Rural Affairs Steering Group and continues to be a club leader for her local club Eccleshall YFC. Here she enjoys coaching younger members in public speaking and stock judging, as well as organising various charity events.
Chris Megarry
Chris Megarry graduated from Harper Adams in 2011 with an BSc (Hons) Agriculture degree.
Upon graduation, he progressed into the Aviagen Management Training scheme, launching his career in the poultry industry.
Chris has risen through the ranks over 11 years, through production manager and senior production manager roles, and is now Head of UK GP Farming for the global operation.
He has been based in Edinburgh for most of his career, but hails originally from Northern Ireland and was a key figure in the Harper Ireland student society during his student years.
