    New lecturing post as part of Harper Adams and Dairy Crest partnership

    Harper Adams and have created a new lectureship as part of the two organisations’ unique partnership. 

    Dairy Crest has an expanding functional food ingredients business, and to help continue to develop this, the company has decided to jointly fund a new academic post.

    The job of Dairy Crest Lecturer in Animal Science and Bioinformatics has gone to Harper Adams researcher . The aim of the role is to help expand the portfolio of research into a prebiotic food ingredient, which has dairy origins, to the animal feeds sector. 

    Stephen Mansbridge has previous experience in animal feed supplements research and is actively engaged in several new company-led research projects.

    Stephen said: “This partnership forges a strong link between the advances in animal science developing through the academic research here at 91Pro and the innovation of a globally leading company in the agri-food sector. 

    “Together we now have yet a further opportunity to progress the application of science and knowledge to real-world developments, both in the field and with the students who are so fundamental to the future of, not only UK food security, but also to the wider global food supply chain.”  

    Dairy Crest Head of Science Technology & Open Sourcing R&D Simon Hunt said: “This appointment will provide Dairy Crest with a capability and capacity to undertake analysis of data derived from its current research into the use of Galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) within the animal nutrition sector.” 

    , Head of Animal Production Welfare and Veterinary Sciences at Harper Adams said: “I welcome the creation of the Dairy Crest Lectureship, which provides clear evidence of the close working relationship that has developed between Dairy Crest and the University, and in particular my department.

    “I look forward to further collaborative research work to follow on from this development.”
