Laura comes from an agricultural knowledge exchange role at Innovation for Agriculture, having previously obtained her PhD from Harper. She has a keen interest in improving links between science and practice using transdisciplinary and multistakeholder engagement approaches to explore the interplay between various farm, human, technology and agricultural systems factors. Although from an animal welfare science background, she's keen to explore diverse topics which might inspire unexpected synergistic projects.
To ensure research has real-world impact, and inspired by her PhD findings, Laura established and chairs the Calf Action Network - a multi-actor group seeking to improve links between research and farm practice with regards to (dairy) calf and youngstock. She also sits on the Animal Welfare Research Network (AWRN) Coordinating Group as the Industry Link Officer working to facilitate interaction and collaboration between industry stakeholders and academics.
