An update on Harry the rescued hedgehog

    18 December 2020

At the end of October, we introduced you to Harry the rescued hedgehog. Saved by Rachel Baugh, RVN and university lecturer, from the corner of Flatt Road, Harry was taken to Stapley Grange Wildlife centre to be cared for over the winter.

However, Harry swiftly gained weight and grew in size, becoming health enough to release back into his home on campus. From 350g to 800g, Harry’s medical treatment was a quicker success than anyone expected.

In preparation for his return, a purpose built hedgehog box was made by Phil Nash from the Estates team. Rigged with motion detector cameras, the team is keeping an eye on his recovery during hibernation and will continue to update us on his growth now he is safely back on campus.
