The food academy is a learning hub for staff, students, researchers and visitors from school and industry.
In this dedicated space at the heart of the campus, close to both farm and laboratories, you’ll find food processing facilities, a sensory evaluation room, specialist equipment, teaching rooms and a lecture theatre.
Here students can undertake practical sessions which develop their understanding of food processing and preservation. They are able to make cheeses and beers, for example, as well as learn how to make baked goods and other preserved foods. They can develop their skills in new food product design and development, and gain insight into specialised products such as fresh produce, ready meals, confectionery and snack foods, as well as more traditional products such as cured and smoked meats.
