The 2024 Land and Property awards winners

New awards from industry partners have been added to the annual Land and Property Management Graduation celebration at 91Pro.

The Land and Property team hold an event following each year’s graduation ceremony to mark their students’ successes during their time at University.  For this year’s event, the team were delighted to welcome Senior Vice-President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Justin Sullivan, to award three new RICS sponsored awards.

The awards were made to three students, one each from the University’s undergraduate, postgraduate and apprentice degree routes.

Each went to a student who engaged consistently with the course, developed their professional network, promoted Harper Adams wherever possible and acted with respect and professionalism.

The winner of the undergraduate award was Georgie Lee, who will be working for Rostons in Cheshire following her graduation.

The winner of the postgraduate award was Ross Brookes, who now has begun working for the National Trust in the Peak District - and the apprenticeship award went to Maisie Evans who is working for Berrys in Shrewsbury.

Senior Lecturer Andrew Black, who organised and co-ordinated the event, said: “We were really pleased to welcome the RICS President Elect to the campus on such an important date and we would like to extend our thanks to the RICS for making these awards available once again”.

The LPM were also delighted to welcome the Junior Vice-President of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), Mike Taylor of Barbers Chartered Surveyors in Market Drayton, to present the CAAV prizes this year.

The undergraduate awards were made jointly to Rhea Auton and Claudia Pearson.  The postgraduate award was made to Georgie Buchanan-Bailie-Hamilton.

Also new for 2024 was awards made by land and property agents GSC Grays - who sponsored the Farm Business Management for Land Managers module - and which was awarded to Will Jeffels.

Once again, the LPM team were able to make awards for the Gethin Webb Award and the Tom Haseley Award.

Both of these awards are voted for by LPM students themselves and go to those fellow students who made their overall learning experience during their time at University more enjoyable.  The awards this year were made to Josh Kitto and Ceiran Prynne.

The winner of the Harper Adams Land & Property Management Prize, which is presented to the final year Land & Property Management student who achieved the highest overall grade on completing their studies, was Jenny Rheade , and the undergraduate Michelmores Prize, awarded to the student who has attained the highest assignment mark covering Agricultural Tenancy Law, saw Rhea Auton take her second trophy of the day.

LPM Course Manager, Dr Mark Simcock, added: “Once again our graduates have excelled themselves  - it is really important that we recognise that, and we need to remember that these graduates today enrolled at the University in the autumn of 2020 at the height of the COVID pandemic.

“Their success here today goes to illustrate their resilience and hard work through overwhelmingly challenging times.

    “Well done to them all.”
