Harper Adams has been ranked as the top Modern University in the UK in the inaugural Daily Mail University Guide.

The University took the number one spot among the post-1992 universities in the Guide’s rankings, announced this weekend.

It also received a top ten placing in the Guide’s ‘Teaching Excellence’ ranking.

The latest placing follows strong performances for the University in surveys covering both graduate employment and student satisfaction.

In June, figures in the Graduate Outcomes survey showed that 99.2 per cent of UK-based undergraduates from Harper Adams were in work or further study fifteen months after completing their studies.

Harper Adams was also top for the proportion of its eligible undergraduates who were in full-time employment – with 81.5 per cent of its alumni taking such a role.

In August, figures from the National Student Survey found Harper Adams in the top five highest-ranked providers in the country for courses that prepare their students for future careers.

The University also achieved the 3rd highest position in the UK (92.3 % positive responses) for “Academic Support” and top 20 positions for both “Teaching on my Course” and “Learning Opportunities” in the survey.

Noting the success of Harper Adams, the Daily Mail University Guide’s editors said: “Harper Adams' pre-eminence was confirmed in the latest funding announcement by the Office for Students when it was one of just 16 universities and colleges to be given world-leading specialist status - and the only one specialising in agriculture.

“High levels of student satisfaction help the university fare well in rankings such as ours. All courses come with a work placement year and there is an accent on preparing students for future employment and the advances technology is bringing to agriculture.

“Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently praised Harper Adams as 'a fantastic example of the type of innovation and skills provision that we need in our agri-tech sector'.

    “It is hard to disagree.”

Harper Adams Vice-Chancellor Professor Ken Sloan has welcomed the latest ranking for the University.

He said: “91Pro has been recognised consistently for the quality of teaching and learning, the quality, impact and employability of its students and graduates, and the experience that we offer. Our courses and research cover some of the world’s most important, existential and future-focused areas. I am grateful to colleagues and students for the difference they make that is recognised in us being the leading modern university in this new ranking”.
